First the good news - the resort is great - terrific service, beautiful setting, and very relaxing. The bad news is the airstrip and plane security. My first attempt at landing my Mooney resulted in a go-around as the strip is so bumpy. I've seen better logging roads. In 40 years of flying into grass strips, I have never landed on a rougher one. It is also very soft. After finally landing I got ready to push my plane back into the parking area. I could not move the plane without help as the tires had sunk in about a half inch in less than 5 minutes. This despite being told by the front desk that the strip was in good shape and dry. When I went to leave the tires were about an inch deep in the loamy soil. I also found as I did my pre-flight that someone had broken the lock on the cockpit door - nothing was stolen and the reflective window covers I use appeared undisturbed. I think it was probably a kid playing with the door (admittedly Mooney door locks are not real robust). There is a playground just off the airstrip behind one of the restaurants. Overall I am not sure if I would go back - the place is wonderful, but for me the drive from Pennsylvania is too far. There are several good airports in the area but then of course you need transportation. And the real appeal for me is the flying.

Great resort right on Lake Champlain. We flew in to the grass strip which was indeed well maintaned BUT be careful. After a day of heavy rain two days before our arrival the strip was very soft . We had to be towed out of mud but after a couple of dry days we were able to depart without problem. I advise calling an asking either the reception desk or better yet the golf course pro the condition of the turf.
