Landed at Fayetteville and parked myself with no guidance from the ground crew at the Landmark FBO to file a flight plan and return to the Anson County airport. 37 min flight. In other words I didn't need fuel. I asked the friendly young lady at the reception counter were the flight planning room was and as she pointed to it she told me I needed to pay a security fee of $5.00. Not to annoyed about this as I figure it's just the post 911 world we live in today but then she said I need to pay a "Facility" fee of $15.00 also. I was now feeling a bit of a temper tantrum starting. I explained to her that no one parked me, no one chocked the aircraft,(had to walk across the ramp to get my own chocks) nor did anyone lay down the red carpet as I used to do when I worked on the ramp at this airport in the early 80's. So what am I paying a facility fee for. She kindly said it was for taking up there ramp space. I kindly said I won't be taking up there ramp space again. Hung a note at our FBO at my home base to be aware of these ridiculous charges from Landmark Aviation.

Have been using Landmark for a while. Always a great service and friendly staff. I think their small charge if no gas speaks more of the economy and status of GA/ operational costs than their intent. I have seen them waving fees to students on asking.

Stopped by Landmark 5/8/2011 to drop off a friend. After I helped him to his car, I was informed I owed a usage fee on the way back out to the ramp. No parking, no help with bags and not even a bottle of water for the return flight - just the choice between paying $25 or buying 7gal of gas. I don't feel I got my money's worth.
