best bargain on Nantucket is the airport overnight fee $10. Otherwise taxi to town $14, room at summerhouse $350 plus tax $40,room at Wauwinet $850. Restaurants also very expensive Toppers $82 per person pre fixe plus half bottle wine least expensive $40, although toppers will provide water taxi to town but must reserve in advance. Stay here only if you have very deep pockets,no $100 hamburger here only $900 lobster otherwise come for the day no parking fee. Fog rolls in every morning, prepare to file IFR

Great place to visit although very,very busy in summertime. I have grandchildren who live there and I take my grand daughter to the FBO quite often. They built a beautiful gazebo right next to the FBO where you can sit and observe planes taking off and landing. You can get a bus ride on the WAVE bus into town approx 4 miles and it only costs $4.00. If you plan on staying any length of time, be prepared to spend a minimum of $250-$350 per day for food and lodging(for 2).My gran daughter likes to wish the corporate/charter pilots a " good flight " when we leave the FBO.Best time to visit is in fall or winter. We taxied from the taxiway to the ramp and there were no linemen to meet us in a "follow me" cart. We proceeded to park and then the linemen showed up. Once engines shutdown a grumpy lineman in a big white motorhome/FaTran bus with a 122.95 magnet on the leftdoor got out and proceeded to embarrass us for NOT monitoring 122.95 where they apparently give instruction and "like you to monitor as a courtesy." It was not put us so kindly though. Note neither the AFD nor AOPA comments mention this! Later I called the FBO Manager, Blane and told him about this incident. He said he will speak to the linemen and that monitoring 122.95 is a local courtesy they practice but by no means a requirement. My advice to you flying in there....MONITOR it, it will save you the hassle.
