Previous commenters did a great job of setting my expectations accordingly. I still came to this airport because my friends live 15 minutes away. If you fly a small GA aircraft for personal travel AVOID KBED! This is an extremely busy corporate jet airport serving the Greater Boston area. I fly a Cirrus SR22. Was directed by line staff to the farthest back 40 acre of the ramp on arrival. Heavy handed security stopped me on the way back to my aircraft on the ramp and demanded to see ID, then rudely told me I had to have special airport badge displayed at all times. Grudgingly "allowed" me to proceed to my plane after I showed them my pilots license and photo ID. Signature is Signature wherever you go. No major complaints with the FBO itself. Several weeks after my experience there I got a bill in the mail from Vector-MASSPORT for $30 for my wonderful experience there. Worst airport in the country as far as I'm concerned. If you are small GA going into Boston I'd recommend any of the other numerous airports in the area.

Avoid KBED (Hanscom Flield Bedford, MA) unless you have a corporate expense account!!!! A club member landed our Tobago at KBED. took a friend flying, returned to KBED and as he was about to leave, Jet Aviation "relieved" him of $120!! Two parking fees of $15 ea. and two minimum fuel charges of $45 ea. (Signature charges $35 for their minimum fuel charge). If the member had purchased fuel, the minimum fuel charge would've been waived. However, considering the price of fuel, the member didn't purchase the 8 gallon minimum which would've totaled close to $64.00. The state charges a $10 landing fee as well. When all is tallied the cost to have taken his friend flying will be $140.00! You might prefer going to an airport that welcomes us and not merely our wallets.

Ten dollar landing fee - I've had worse. Signature Aviation extremely helpful. $40+ ramp fee waived with a 7 gallon purchase, so it's not a serious factor. Parking fees not horrible. Fifty cent/gallon discount on weekends is an offer recently instituted. I landed here in an Archer September 2011, and expected worse given previous comments. Gas $8 less weekend discount, was the worst part. However facilities are very good and Signature staff eager and helpful.

Watch Out! See the additional remarks for this field. In July, they added a $55. nighttime fee for departures before 7 am. I missed it and got billed for a 6:33 am departure. Would have been helpful if they had posted the new fee schedule at the FBO or had the FBO mentioned it when I was settling up for fuel.

Avoid this field like a STD, Like KBOS, they hate small planes. Now that mASSport also owns Worcester too, expect the same there. How any flight schools run out of there is beyond me. OWD is a great field as an alternative.

This was my first experience with landing fees and fuel above the $5.00 mark. All the comments above are correct and I would have chosen an alt airport if the business meeting wasn't so close. I used Signature Flight Support b/c their fuel was lower than the other FBO's. Line crew and staff were outstanding and very helpful. I'm not sure what MASS has in store for GA but their fee structure and gas prices say GET OUT!

Do not rent from Avis. I rented a car from Avis in nearby Maynard and was told by Avis at BED that I could drop it off here when I was flying out without an increased fee. They then increased the fee almost $400 on a 4 day rental. It took 5 phone calls to get it reduced to $100 more than the original contract stated. I did not realize that many of the Avis locations are independent and can do whatever they want. You think you are getting the benefits of a large company that can deal with problems, and the local shop can do whatever they want. Avis Maynard was very rude, the guy at BED had no control over what he said he did and I am going Hertz from now on when at BED.
