Made an unplanned landing in Banning the other day due to some engine issues. I want to say thanks and recognize -- "Arnold"; he was the office personnel at that time. He was very helpful, even stayed past his working hours, until our arrangement for our next leg was taken cared of.

This was my 6th time to the airport, which included PPL training and building time for my instrument 50 hours cross country. The airport is never busy and there was only 1 plane in the pattern and no one on the ground. The airport always has strong winds down the runway 10-16 knots, sometimes gusting up to 20s, so be carefull with using the 3rd flap because it will slow you down. I talked to the friendly attendant and he said the winds are usually down the middle of the runway for 8 and 26. It is a great place to practice your pattern work and landings with winds. I noticed they added the AWOS. If you depart westbound and want flight following, you may have to wait until after Banning Pass because of radio reception with SOCAL.
