Dropped a passenger off at Signature before heading back to GAI. $120 landing fee! Seriously!! Never again.

I flew into BWI on 13 July to pick up a family member who flew in on Southwest. They treated me with great care. I was very happy until I got my bill. They first charged me a handling fee of $70 which they gave me a credit for. Then a landing charge of $41 which they did not credit me for. Then the ludicrous price of $8.371 per gallon. Then a fee of $42.434 for AVGAS CONC. FEE % of REV. (Exactly as the bill said). Needless to say, I will not recommend stopping there for gas. I chose to drive 4 days later when my family member left. I finished a week and a half trip with my airplane in which I payed roughly $5.50-6/ gallon prices for av gas. The price of $8.37/gal coupled with the attrocous handling charges make BWI not a place I will want to revisit. Signature is off my list when I travel now.

Delightful experience. 33R/15L dedicated to GA. Minimal vectoring. Easy departure. Signature is first class. Waived facilities fee with just 7 gal. Purchase. $34 airport landing fee (thank you 9-11) reasonable $13 a night tie- down for single engine.

I started my flight training at BWI with Royal Air Flight Training. BWI is awesome, the controllers are more than happy to accommodate GA and are very helpful. They even allow me to do touch and go's as much as I want. I was a little nervous about having to talk to so many controllers when I first started flying there but it really isn't bad at all. If you are not based there, the landing fee might catch you and Signature charges ridiculously high fuel prices (go to W29 Bay Bridge if you want fuel) They like GA to land 33R or 15L depending on the wind but no worries as they are both precision approaches. Signature also offers free Starbucks brewed coffee, cookies, and popcorn. They have a nice pilot lounge and briefing room. They will even drive out to your plane to pick you up and drive you back out when you are ready to leave. Other than fuel prices, I would rate BWI an A++ as a place for GA and flight training.
