Great view, in the middle of nowhere, VA. Like landing on a big aircraft carrier, with big dropoffs all around. No problem if you have your short-field techniques down.

I landed here for the second time today and brought a picnic lunch. We sat at the drop off at the end of the runway and ate. What fun, some RC folks were flying electric planes. Love this airport, reminds me very much of Catalina Island. KAVX This is another "Aiport In The Sky."

Terrific airport! Reminds me of some I have visited in New Mexico and Arizona. This airport has character. Plan to return and camp on the field. Great place to practice airspeed dscipline on approach in my Mooney. There is no terrain near airport elevation to dodge ( landed and departed runway 4) While on downwind there are some nice outs in case of engine stoppage---others quadrants-- not so much. What a fun little place to land!

To say this will challenge some pilots is very accurate. Very steep dropoffs both ends and narrow to boot. Runway is in fair shape. But if your up on practice it is truly a field on top of everything. Stopped in for Va Ambassador Stamp and its abit of a treasure hunt to find but its there!

Airport will definitely challenge pilots. Very little room to turn around. Terrain drops rapidly anywhere off runway/ramp. Trees growing on dropoffs. Ramp space almost non-existant.
