Stopped in to fuel up and stumbled upon a gem of a mechanic- Steve at Fly by Knights. He was very friendly and engaged us in conversation. We were a few travel weary people heading towards the main terminal building hoping for some A/C and daring to hope for WIFI on a quiet Sunday morning. He kindly told us there was nothing over there but we were welcome to come into the Fly By Knights building which had some refreshing A/C, nice plush couches, TV, WiFi, drinks and snacks. We also found a nice store inside which had a decent selection of headsets. I enjoyed trying on a Lightspeed Zulu headset and looking at the BrightLine Flight Bags. They also had instructional books and DVDs, and charts. We needed some plexi-glass cleaner and they had a great product which did a good job for our plane. Steve ended up being a gem of a mechanic as we needed an oil change and he was willing to do it right then for us. We were grateful for his expertise with Mooneys he had owned two Mooneys in the past. And we appreciated how gentle he was with our plane. Some mechanics really rough up the the plane when they work but he was precise and careful and did a great job! On a Sunday, no less! Thank you Steve! To top it off, he called the Hammond Air Center to deliver a courtesy car for us to drive into town for lunch, as well as suggested a great local restaurant and gave us directions into town. Great stop!
