The folks at Atlantic Aviation couldn't have been friendlier. They offered a crew car when my taxi was running late (recommend calling ahead at rush hour). There is even a restaurant and bar attached to Atlantic. Just be forewarned that it is not cheap - My 4 hours parking on the tarmac ran $48; much more than I have paid for overnight parking at other airports like HPN and ACK. I would highlight the prior comment about the danger of mistaking the old airport to the east as HFD.

Cabela's has a Hartford outlet which is located right across the river from KHFD at the site of the old Rentschler Field (adjacent from the huge stadium referred to in the other post). The store runs a free shuttle service-maybe a 10 min ride from the airport-which was arranged through the friendly folks at Atlantic when I arrived. It doesn't get better than this!

Great controllers. I had to stop to get my clearance since I couldn't get it in the air. They were very easy to work with. Be aware of an old airport just to the east. I wasn't familiar with the area and I almost landed on it until I saw the "X"s! The huge stadium at the end of the RW is another identifier of the OLD airport
