I had the pleasure of meeting Betty on a fuel stop at Hawthorne last week on my way to Vegas. I fly out of the Minden-Tahoe Airport and the only fuel available is full serve with 8am to 5pm hours. I left before 8am and was forced to fuel on the way. I read a few comments about Hawthorne (KHTH) and felt I had to check it out. The reviews people write on AOPA and AirNav about Betty are absolutely true. What a great experience. Price of fuel is a bit more expensive, but the service is above and beyond what I have found at other airports. Betty.... a wet wipe for my hands after fueling, free bottles of water, driving to the fence line to take a picture of my airplane rolling off the runway on departure. Is this for real? Thanks Betty for showing me true aviation spirit. I will be back.

What a great little surprise this airport had in store. We needed to stop here for a fill on our way to Arizona from Bend, OR but what we didn't expect was the pleasure to meet Betty! What a fabulous welcome she gave us. To be honest, when we left, myself and copilot felt bad that we didn't stay longer. Not only did she offer us some light food and beverage, but also a ride into town if we needed one. I must say, I offered to make a donation to the place to help keep it going, but she refused it and insisted that we take whatever we needed. I only wish that more airports could find people like Betty who truly love aviation and all that comes with it because I have flown into some very nice high end airports before and never had such great, warm and caring attention given to me. Betty you are the best and if I am ever within a few hundred miles of you I will surely come by and see you. Thanks again for everything! Robinson R44 May 6th 2011.

2/9/10 - I diverted to HTH last weekend and found a true aviation treasure in the airport greeter, Betty Easley. She offer me a courtesy car (I found out later she bought them herself) along with a list of lodging and restaurants. Please stop in and say hello to this wonderful lady. She will also take picture of your aircraft and do a write-up in the local paper.
