I want to present an entirely different point of view of this wonderful airport called Linden, I have been flying in there for years and I see a new attitude with the current staff of people working there. Mark and Patrick have treaded me with respect and honored me in every way to make my stay a good experience. The Enterprise rented car was there and waiting for me when I arrived. I listened and followed the ATIS instruction before landing and parked exactly where the ATIS inf directed me to. I went in gave Mark my CC and picked up my car. Drove to NYC did my business and came back. Everything was just perfect and very efficiently handled with me. They were handling lots of other flights and fueling and etc. but they had time to take care of me too. I will continue to use this airport and their great services. Thank you Gentlemen. Was based at LDJ for several years. If you are looking for a poorly managed facility with high fuel prices, landing fees and parking fees, you have found it. You will know you are there as soon as your mains hit the runway! They are quick to let you know, on your roll-out, that you need to come in and pay your fees. Very expensive tie-down fees. Explains why so many have relocated to Central Jersey (47N). The tie down area is looking like a ghost town. The location has a lot of potential but not under its current management. Expect major delays in getting out IFR.

Update to my earlier LDJ Post: To my surprise when I went to retrieve my snail mail today I found a check from the LDJ FBO. It was a refund for my unused parking. My initial thoughts were, I guess the management reads their reviews online, (sometimes the internet is a good thing), and second that it was awfully nice of whomever went through the trouble of mailing the check to do so. I'm not one to hold grudges, so if I ever have to go back to NYC, I suppose I'll give'em another try.

Worst airport I've been to in New York. Bored staff apparently couldn't be bothered to get up to meet us on the ramp and show us to parking on arrival or assist in tying down our single. No fuel truck, on departure we had to taxi to the pumps and wait where they lethargically fueled the plane. On our own to add oil, too. $20/day to park, the $15 landing fee was waived on 100LL purchase at $5.45/gal. Credit card imprint demanded on arrival. Meager pilot amenities in the building. Quoted about $100 plus tolls for a cab ride to mid-town Manhattan, or take the New Jersey Transit commuter train (plus cabs at each end) for about half that for two people - and ninety minutes or more travel time. With only three transient aircraft parked over the Labor Day holiday weekend, it looks like I was only one of a very few pilots who didn't get the message about this place. Good runway, but use caution for intensive helicopter training and airspace limitations in the shadow of Newark Airport. Overall a lousy experience at an airport we'll never return to. Try TEB, instead. There's a lot of jet traffic, but there you actually have FBO choices who, in my experience, are much more attentive. And it's closer to Manhattan, too.

AVOID-AVOID-AVOID!!! This FBO Perpetuates the stereotype of rude, "in your face", New Jersey-ians. The access to NYC is great, but their landing & overnight fees are highway robbery. I paid for 3 days tie down ($60). Our plans changed and we decided to depart after 2 days. I asked the lineman behind the counter for a 1-day refund. His response was, "too bad, It's not our fault if your leaveing". He refused to refund my money. To that I said, "no big deal...$20 isn't going to break me, but you can bet I'll right it up on AOPA and AIRNAV for everyone to read about." After which he became belligerent and even more argumentative. I calmly told him I'm not going to argue, and walked away. In a feeble attempt at retribution, the lineman locked the door that accesses the flight line and "took an extended break". His ploy essentially held me prisoner in the lobby...That is until I found the electronic release behind the counter. With a push of the button I was FREE...Never to return to LDJ.

7/18/10 - went to LDJ today to meet a CFI to do some training. I landed to pick up the CFI and paid a $15.00 landing fee. They did not have any change. We left the area to do my training. When we were finished, we returned to LDJ to do some ground training. Following that, it was lunch time. Because I was staying for lunch, there was a $20.00 parking fee. The message here clearly is GA stay away we do not want you. I will not be back. Mike N103MR

Linden has a LANDING FEE. Do NOT try to skirt this fee! There is also a new FAR when you fly into Linden. You MUST leave a credit card impression with them so they can leave it lying around for anyone to see. It also goes into their computer permanently for "security" (so you can't steal away in the night without paying). If you don't have, or want to leave a credit card impression, you must pay IN ADVANCE. But you better have EXACT CHANGE; they don't have change- ever. If you don't leave your credit card info, or pay in advance, they will put a prop lock on your aircraft. They did to me. Fly into EWR and pay the fees- you'll have a better day.
