Kevin from Tailwind Aviation flew up to KHSE to give me a charge after my battery died. This was on a Sunday. He was prompt, knowledgeable, courteous, and reasonably priced. Why can't everyone do business like Kevin!

Stayed there last weekend & had a great experience-met me with my rental car, tied me down, waived two night tie down fee for fillup, graciously helped me with a battery problem Sun AM. They arranged Enterprise rental car & it was around $69/day plus tax, etc (see below about Toyota). Stay here! Do check notams on 8-26 construction.

Tailwind Aviation LLC has been operating in hanger 84 for about a year. Captain Kevin Snyder and company recently discovered a cracked engine case in my airplane that had been misdiagnosed by several other shops. Tailwind removed and installed the overhauled engine on time and under budget. They also did a great rework of the landing gear. Kevin does high quality work and takes pride in having his company do as promised. It is very nice to have a professional and helpful pro-aviation business local.

Tailwind Aviation (Kevin Snyder, A&P) saved my bacon. He dropped everything on a Friday afternoon to fix a leaking gascolator and get me back in the air. Great rates, professional and friendly service. Tailwind Aviation is not associated with the FBO, you will have to call Kevin yourself at 252-514-4081.

Tailwind Aviation at hangar 84 did a great job fixing my plane and kept the cost very low. I can't give them any higher praise! Call Kevin at 252-514-4081 if you need your aircraft fixed. His bill was far below the estimate and the service was fast friendly and professional.

Called to verify tiedown fees: $20 per night - $100 maximum. 14 gals will waive 1 night 20 gals will waive 2 nights 30 gals will waive 3-4 nights 40 gals will waive 5-7 nights

It was my 2nd time to this airport in the last 2 years. I've had good service both times. Nelson and Tim assisted with the car rental and tied the plane down. They even remembered that I had a flat tire the last time I was here! I called them for fuel about an hour before departure and the plane was fueled and ready to go when I arrived. Gas was $5.95.... The only complaint that I have - and it's not FBO related - is the price of the rental car - $69/day for a Toyota from a local place. I would recommend calling around (Enterprise?).

Good visit. The guys here were very friendly. 100LL was $5.35 (pretty normal) Ramp fees are $20 per night for a 172. Bought 15 gal and one night waived. Would have bought 20, but hey, when you're topped off, you're topped off. $5 cab ride into town. The Royal James is good food for the money but that's no shrimp burger. It's a frozen popcorn shrimp po boy. Stick with the regular burgers there.

Airnav now shows its owned by southern air, anyone been since the change, is it the same people with a different name or a new show? I would love to start using this airport again.

Stopped over again recently, and the service was very good. Would highly recomend a visit to this historic coastal town.

Have to agree with the above negative comments. The staff is abrupt and unhelpful. If there was another airport they should close this one. Probably, the worst airport I flew into.

Stopped in on 6/22/10 to grab a bite in town (10 min walk or 10 min $5 cab... diff routes). Bot 10 gal of fuel to be a good visitor and no fees charged. Shortly after departure, had an alternator harness wire break and returned to field for repairs. Local AP was helpful and turned us around in very short order. Nice folks all, and would visit again. If you like dive dining, check out the shrimp "burger" at Royal James. Tasty bargain.

I would rather drive an extra half an hour than give them my business. The last thing want to see is an airport close but with this business the airport might as well be closed. Otherwise its a great airport good location three runways all in good condition I would even take signature here, anyting but se-grave. The worst fbo in all my travels
