I flew up from Roanoke for the day. Great flight. Great controller handling. Route; ROA-MRB-EMI-MTN. Only slight change to routing and Radar Vector's. My experience with the FBO (Martin FBO) staff was great. Carol, Mary Beth and Yolanda (?) were outstanding. Had fresh coffee, etc. Called for taxie 4 minutes out. By the time I got down, taxied, and went to FBO taxie was there. Probably a total of 15 minutes after I called in. Sam with Harco Sedan (410-344-0009) was pleasant, takative and helpful. Clean taxie. Cost was $50 each way to the Hyatt in downtown plus tolls. Tolls were $6.00 each way. Could have used a credit card but there is an added fee. I even paid for the round trip up front and he picked me up on time at the end of my stay and took me back to Mountain State. After reading the previous posts, I almost went to BWI. But the costs there were going to be astounding!. At Martin State,I paid for 40 gallons of fuel for my Baron and an additional $20 for parking for the day. No handling was received, nor needed. Ground control directed me to parking. Had to find the entrance to the FBO by myself, but not hard. It is next to the tower. Never saw a lineman. Was refueled while gone. Martin State is about the same distance from downtown as BWI it appears. BWI may be slightly quicker because of the major roads, but probably not more then 5-10 minutes. I don't really know since I have not done a comparable trip from BMI. I would definitely use them again. Maybe the previous posts had me expecting the worst, and it wasn't, so I was pleased. Or maybe I am just getting old.

After an overnight stay and fueling the fbo wanted to hold a signed blank open credit card slip after one had been signed for the fueling and overnight parking with the correct ammount. Did not leave until blank was shredded. First I have encountered this in over 30 years of flying.

I flew in there today, a line crew did meet me at the plane but that is where the service stopped. After I told him we would be leaving the plane for 2 days he promptly wked off. The lady inside seemed mostly interested in my credit card. I asked her the best way to get down town she so called me a cab. We were parked a long way from the fbo so I asked if they could use a cart to bring my luggage up she said the tax could go out there. While we waited for the taxi she did not tell us where the lounge was. which was average. We had to find it ourselves. Now on to the taxi, she called the cab for us and reminded us that we needed cash since the driver does not take credit cards. The cab arrives, the cab driver needs a hair brush, the cab stinks of butt, and he skids pass a red light into the middle of the intersection while talking on the phone to his wife about how to program something like a VCR. After he backs up from the middle of the intersection, he continues to talk to her on the cell phone. A couple more min pass by till he finishes the call. He never apologized or even acknowledged what had jut happened. I will tell the FBO person about it I return on Friday but I kinda hold them accountable to at least recommend a cab company with a little class. Other than that everything was fine, 13.00 per 24 hours to park and they won't waive the fee if you buy gas.
