Stopped in the for the day on 2/14/2013. Charlotte county FBO was very helpful. No parking fee. tower closes at 7, but FBO is 24 hours. Full service fuel is same as at home - $5.91. Allegiant air has commercial flights into PGD. 2 minutes from I-75 - closer to N Ft Meyers than the big airport. We'll be back.

GREAT AIRPORT FOR OUR UNEXPECTED OVERNIGHT STOP. AFTER A LONG DAY FLYING FROM PA TO THE KEYS AND DODGING T-STORMS WITH NIGHT APPROACHING WE PICKED THIS AIRPORT TO STOP AT. EXCELLENT AIRPORT, AND AN ATTENDANT FROM CHARLOTTE COUNTY AIRPORT AUTHORITY DROVE US TO A 5STAR HOTEL THAT GIVE PILOTS A DISCOUNTED RATE OF $89/NIGHT IN CLOSE WALING DISTANCE TO RESTAURANTS. FUEL PRICES ARE GREAT FOR SELF SERVE, AND BELOW AVERAGE FOR FULLL SERVICE. WE MAY MAKE THIS A REGULAR STOP ALTHOUGH IT IS A LITTLE OFF OF TRACK. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE TOWER HOURS.

As of 2011, Charlotte County Airpoort, soon to be called Punta Gorda Airport, has completed commercial service to the airport and is building a tower to be in use this fall. The personell at the FBO and the airport administratiopn are all super and the airport restaurant is great. If you haven't been there lately, come on in for a visit and you'll be happy you did.
