We stopped at RAP on the way back from Oshkosh. Great FBO, reasonable price on Oxygen fill and were also able to have a mechanic do a little troubleshooting. We did call ahead and they were able to easily arrange a rental car. I'd stop here again if in the area.

We landed here on our extended summer flying vacation which started in our home of Michigan, to Charleston SC, Alanta GA, Tenessee, and then after a few more stops at Rapid city to spend a week sight seeing. The FBO building is a great place. the staff at West Jet Air Center had our rental car ready for us as we had called ahead. they tied the plane down and waited to fuel it for us until the day we left as we were there for a week. When we left, we just left the rental car keys at the counter and they took care of everything. We departed today at 5am and they are 24 hours so there was no problem droping off the rental car or accessing our plane. We will make this a stop on our next trip to Yellowstone.

Last week we flew our Comanche 400 to Rapid City and, despite the negative comments posted here, chose to use Westjet. We couldn't have been more pleased. The service we received was excellent from the moment we taxied to the ramp. The line guy greated us, brought the fuel truck over immediately, and cleaned our windshield. Then he gave me a ride to Avis at the terminal to pick up our rental car. Fuel was $4.886/gal. Tie down was $7.00 per night. Karen at the front desk was wonderful and very helpful. This is in response to comment number 00545778. My name is Don Rydstrom and I am CEO of Westjet Air Center in Rapid City. Although the gentleman did not post lhis name, Mr. Cole's comments were inaccurate and demeaning to our Company. Our prices for all of our services are competitive in the industry as we check them often. The price for the repair of the landing light was higher than normal because we would have had to call out a mechanic as it was a weekend and he would have been on overtime. Further, the price he quoted was still in excess of our charges. The self service fuel is indeed cheaper since they offer no other services consequently their overhead is almost non existant when compared to ours as a full service FBO. He was accidently charged twice for his fuel, but was corrected immediately as it was a computer issue. We contacted AOPA on four different occasions, but our calls were never returned. We finally reached someone at AOPA today and she suggested that we respond with a comment of our own. We do not agree with this method. Publishing Mr. Coles's comments is a diservice to general aviation due to their inaccuracies.
