Great place to fly in to practice IFR or towered operatins. While on VFR, I've never had problems picking up flight following from RDG or entrance into class-D (never had to call Allentown). Controllers are very helpful and flexible -- they're used to dealing with students and rusty pilots. If you are approaching 31 watch out for the ridge to the southeast. An extended downwind will bring you close (and the controllers are aware). Parking for the restaurant (terminal building) is easy and the staff has always been nice and friendly. The Mid-atlantic Air Museum is worth a visit.

Flew here for IFR training and stopped for lunch. Very friendly staff and good food.

Flew into RDG for a quick stop on 07/17/10. Controller was very friendly and helpful. I told him it was my first time there, so any help would be appreciated. He was very accomodating. I told him I was picking someone up at the restaurant. He guided me to park in front of it, and also told me what I would need to know to return to my aircraft. The approach over the hillside is a nice view.

Airport is a so-called Stealth Class-D, where the tower controllers expect you to first contact Allentown Approach. If you pick up flight following on the way to the airport, they will switch you to the appropriate frequency. Be aware you may hit some turbulence from the ridges along the flight path for Runway 31.
