N45TC 's first visit to APP at SRQ. It was great all around. The guys in the tower were very nice and helpful with not only normal issues in the sky and taxi-ing on an unfamiliar airport but they are very much appreciated for being so very patient with me on arrival when I had an unexpected engine out just outside the hold short line just off the active runway. Once I was at APP, Tom Panico and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities are very nice yet not overly done. I felt very comfortable that I was not overpaying for the glitz and glamor some "jet centers" present. Inside there is a refreshment area with complimentary drinks and snacks. They seemed truly interested that it was our first trip to APP/SRQ and Tom went out of his way with customer service. Yet I got the feeling this was the way I would be treated if it had been a regular. I was very appreciative and told him so. He responded, "I want you to come back." I believe him. If/when I go back to SRQ, I'm parking at APP.
