This is a quaint, old-time airport with friendly staff and an interesting approach. You'll note the ridges that surround the river valley and the levee that wraps around the runway on two sides. Pay careful attention to activity in the pattern since the asphalt/turf runway crosses the only taxiway and taxiing on the runway is frequently required as the taxiway enters the runway close to the 7 end. The Colonial Pancake House has good food at a good price with friendly staff. Back at the airport we were welcomed into the hanger to see the A-6 and L-39. Well worth a visit!

KWBW is indeed like flying into the the movie set of "Rocket Man" On weekends you will find a bottomless urn of fresh coffee, and tray of fresh donuts. They have an excellant staff of flight instructors, who can teach from student pilot to ATP, tail dragger, unlimited class aerobatic and jet! You will find three generations of Scrobolas working to make you feel like part of the family. This is an airport where you can still experience the ambiance of the barnstormer days of yore. It was what attracted me to small town general aviation to begin with, and is rapidly disappearing. You will not be disappointed to fly in and spend a morning or afternoon at Valley Aviation.

Flying into KWBW is like flying back in time. It's as if time just past by this place without anyone knowing it. The terminal building with it's old attached tower and original looking hangar makes you think you are still in the 1930's or 1940's. Not to many places like this still survive. I say this in a positive way because landing here is a unique experience. No instrument approaches here( What did you expect for a 30's era airport ?) just the beauty of the mountains North and South , the runway aligned along the river - while being surrounded by a picture perfect little town...it doesn't get any better than this place. Treat yourself to something different by landing here...and across the street is a wonderfull pancake house that has great food, service and friendly people.

What a fantastic airport! This sleepy 1920's airport wreaks of nostalgia. As you look at this airport you can easily imagine passengers as they board the DC-3 and the engines on the B-25's coughing and rumbling as they come alive.... but, that was long ago. If you peer closely, however, through the foggy back windows of a familiar main hangar -as you cross the street coming back from the Colonial Pancake house (great breakfast!) you can see the unmistakable silhouette of the A-6 Texan resting in the huge hangar. Without knowing it we were being waved in for a tour - and a seat in the Texan from the Airport manager! All I expected was to fly this morning and have some breakfast with a friend. I came back with so much more - Thanks for the tour Jim!
