Always a great fly-in destination. From the terminal, there's a walking trail that will take you to the Columbia Historic Park. Ask one of the old-timers that hangs around the airport to point to you the entrance to the trail. I enjoyed my visit to the old mining town.

Great Local Fly-In Restaurant -- Pete's Cafe Family Restaurant, 22267 Parrotts Ferry Rd ph(209)532-2438 -- about 1500 feet from the terminal building. From the terminal bldg, follow the main access road (Howser Ln) to the highway (County Rd 18E - Parrotts Ferry Rd), cross the Highway to the East side. Turn right (South) and it will be the first building you come to. The food is great, plentiful, a good value and the staff is friendly. You are just under 1 mile from the Columbia Historic District if you'd like to take the walk.

The campground is in excellent condition with clean bathrooms and showers for $8 a night. You can park on the grass near camp sites next to the grass runway. Barbecue grills are available for charcoal as no wood fires are allowed. Also very short walk to Columbia an old mining town with stage coach rides, saloon, hotels, general store, and restaurants. Probably one of the best airport camping areas in California.
