I've flown into VG18 several times and it's always a good experience. There are no services and the approach is "interesting". But its fun to fly into and it's a short walk to the lodge where you can get good food. Golf and skiing are nearby. This is a day VFR only airport. High winds are a no go because of the location in the hills. There is a voluntary landing fee of $5. Well worth it.

Pilots enjoy a ten percent discount on food in the Lodge, and it is an easy walk from the airport. Just pick up a discount card in the pilots' lounge - use VFR Xpder code to enter. Volunteers monitor 122.8 if you call ahead to ask for the service. Call 240 888-3603.
