Quite an experience, and everyone is friendly to be sure, but be careful. My plane was almost hit by a drunk backing up on the ramp in his car at over 20mph. I yelled at him and pounded on the car, and when he stopped he was less than a foot from my wing. Stop for a passport stamp, visit with the friendly folks on the field, and see a piece of history, but I would be VERY careful about leaving your airplane unattended.

W90 is an experience not to be missed! It is old timey aviation in the 21st century. Can you imagine paying for fuel on the honor system. Just drop the money in the box or send them a check when you get time. I absolutely love this place. You have to see it to believe it. The runway is noticeably inclined to the north, so unless you have a heck of a south wind be sure to land on 36.

Rwy/ramp in fair condition. Active field with multiple small aircraft flying formations on Sat. Lots of weekend mechanic work going on. Parking hard to find in grass/gravel with "parts planes" parked everywhere. Very friendly people on field.

My last gas stop on my flight from CA to MD Nov.2009. Wish there were more old airports like this. Yeah the banjos were play'in but the locals were real nice even to a yankee like me. They were out of 100LL so I got auto gas. No credit card, no problem. I mailed the owner a check from home. Rucker Tibbs is the FBO manager. I recommend going to this place just to see this guy in action. A blast from the past and It won't be around forever.
