Landed at North Las Vegas for the first time this weekend (friday night arrival) for a 3-day trip, usually fly to Henderson but was visiting friends on the north side of town so VGT was very convenient. Both the Las Vegas approach/departure controllers as well as VGT tower are very professional, efficient and accommodating. Terminal staff are great as well, was met by van upon landing and was led to tie-down spot and given a ride to the terminal. Quick, courteous and professional. Tie-down fees have gone up, had paid $5 a night (at Henderson Exec, but it's gone up there also) late last year. At VGT, it was $9 a night for tie-down and $5.97 for 100LL (full service). I believe there's a car rental counter at the airport but cannot comment since I did not use it, was picked up by friends that live close to the airport. Overall a great airport to arrive in Vegas, and less busy than Henderson in my opinion.

My route took me from Ogden Utah to North Las Vegas (North Town) via the Sevier and Desert MOAs, arriving from the North on a Sunday afternoon. First, I have to complement the Nellis AFB controller. He was professional, helpful, and made the experience of arriving at an unfamilier metro area easy. Second, as noted in some of the other posts the FBO at North Town was very good. Just not cheap. My tie down fee was $7.00 a night for a C-172 and fuel was $4.89 a gallon. A driver met me at the plane to take me and my bags back to the terminal. He asked if I wanted a ride into town. Thinking he was offering, I said sure and he promptly called for a cab. Cab fare to the Orleans from VGT, $28, including tip.) Recommendation: come prepared for the tie down fee (They also have shade hangers for a bit more) and use self service fuel. Stay at a hotel that will send a shuttle to pick you up or share a cab. Don't be afraid to fly to Vegas. It was really no big deal. Cheers!
