AOPA tells FAA: No TFRs for amateur rockets

Pilots have too many pop-up temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) to look out for all across the country. AOPA is opposed to more being added, specifically for amateur rocket activity in the National Airspace System.

AOPA has formally told the FAA that TFRs should not be used for any amateur rocket activities. The agency is proposing to update regulations in order to effectively manage new rocket technologies and practices. AOPA contends that any amateur rocket activity should be regulated to allow for safe integration with other existing operations.
