In 1950, AOPA created the AOPA Air Safety Foundation. In the 60 years since, the accident rate per 100,000 flying hours has dropped by an impressive 86% - in part because of the efforts of the Foundation. The Air Safety Institute is the center for general aviation safety with the largest non-government accident database and a broader pilot outreach than any other resource. It is funded solely by grants and generous donations from pilots like you through the AOPA Foundation.
