Campaign for GA
The Campaign for General Aviation: Our Freedom to Fly
Thomas W. Haas, National Campaign Chairman
The AOPA Board of Trustees and the Air Safety Foundations Board of Visitors recognize the need to be proactive now in order to assure us that the best days of GA remain ahead. With their guidance, this $58 million capital campaign - The Campaign for General Aviation: Our Freedom to Fly - the first in the Association's history, has now been launched. The response to the Campaign has been unprecedented. Pilots like you have already committed over $20 million to help GA remain strong.
Four key charitable and educational initiatives requiring immediate attention have been identified. These four initiatives will serve as the four pillars of the Campaign for General Aviation. The four pillars are as follows.
I. Educate the Public on the Benefits of General Aviation
II. Preserve and Improve America’s Community Airports
III. Further Improve the Safety Record of General Aviation Through Pilot Education
IV. Encourage More Individuals to Learn to Fly to Ensure General Aviation’s Future
For the individual pilot-philanthropist, the Campaign provides an opportunity to ensure that the environment surrounding general aviation will be secured for the future. As one lead contributor succinctly stated, “This is the campaign for general aviation’s survival.”
