Sky Is the Limit for Burlington Flight Instructor
By Lynn Monty
Burlington, Vt., inhabitant Samantha Chapin recently moved to that city from Florida. She now serves as a flight instructor at South Burlington's North Ramp Aviation. Chapin, who grew up in Vermont, says she started flying when she was in college in Atlanta and eventually attended a large flight school in Florida. Since then, Chapin has been all over the United States working as a flight instructor. She is working on a bachelor's of science in aviation administration through a Utah Valley University online program; and in addition to her position at North Ramp Aviation, Chapin flies the skydiving plane in Addison, Vt. She says anyone interested in learning to fly should first go on a discovery flight to see if they like it. She stresses that people need to know that flying is possible and is not some pipe dream they will never reach. Chapin notes that currently she is applying for a position at the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to fly for that agency.December 10, 2008
