Sundlun’s No Longer Driving - but He’s Still Flying

Former Rhode Island Gov. Bruce G. Sundlun, 89, has surrendered his driver’s license, but he is still a licensed pilot who flew an aircraft as recently as a few months ago. Sundlun said on a recent radio show that he had to make a brief flight from T.F. Green Airport, where he had gone to greet Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, to Hartford for a grandchild’s birthday party. Sundlun said he asked U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Arthur Votolato, who keeps a plane at the airport, if he could give him a ride. Sundlun said Votolato agreed, and although takeoff was performed by the judge, it was Sundlun who flew the plane to Hartford and back.
