Ultra light instructor Mike Theeke, owner of Fly Hard Trikes, said he has built 375 ultra lights to date throughout his career, and he recently won the title of Grand Champion at the Sun ’N Fun Fly event in Lakeland, Fla. He also received the award of best commercial ultra light. “I’ve been working my way to this award for 11 years,” said Theeke. “I have worked diligently for three years improving the design, appearance and efficiency of the Sky Cycle. To win Grand Champion and Best Commercial Ultra Light made me realize my hard work has definitely paid off.” Theeke’s winning design boasts a Kawasaki 440 engine, and the aircraft requires very little runway space and can reach a maximum altitude of 16,000 feet.
