Cessna Aircraft Company announced two big fleet sales this week. In the first deal, 30 Grand Caravan single-engine turboprops were sold to Indonesia’s Susi Air. Susi Air, which began operations in 2006, already operates 10 Grand Caravans. The airplanes are used for charter, cargo, and humanitarian purposes. Eight of the 30 new Grand Caravans will be delivered in 2009; the remainder will ship by the end of 2011.
Another deal will provide Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense with 46 new Cessna 182 Turbo Skylanes. These will replace the existing 30-year-old fleet of Cessna Skyhawks and serve with the Turkish Land Forces. The new Cessna 182s will have Garmin G1000 avionics with synthetic vision and Amsafe’s shoulder-harness airbags.
