Flight Design tries something metal
Flight Design, the German company that has led quarterly sales since the light sport aircraft movement started, has introduced a nearly all-metal model of its popular CT.
It’s called the CTMC for customers who would rather not have a composite airplane. The current composite model, the CTLS, will continue in production.
The metal model predictably weighs 40 pounds more than the composite CT and goes 10 knots slower, but costs $15,000 less. A welded steel safety cell surrounds the occupants. With options, the CTMC will go out the door from $100,000 to $115,000.
The company will also use an American-made propeller, thus making it easier to get parts. The model features the same landing gear as the CTLS.
