Meet Patty Wagstaff

Meet Patty Wagstaff, the first woman to hold the title of U.S. National Aerobatic Champion. Wagstaff earned a spot on the U.S. Aerobatic Team in 1985, just five years after receiving her pilot certificate. She was awarded the 'First Lady of Aerobatics' Betty Skelton Award numerous times, and was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame. This is your opportunity to meet a woman who has wowed millions at air shows word-wide.

Meet Walt Fricke

Join Veteran's Airlift Command volunteer pilots in a meet and greet with VAC AirBoss Walt Fricke. During Summit, Fricke will receive one of AOPA's most prestigious awards—the Laurence P. Sharples Perpetual Award—for recognition of his achievements. The award will be presented during the noon luncheon at the Marriott Grand Ballroom.

Jason Schappert was named Top Collegiate Flight Instructor at NIFA 2008. He is the author of MzeroA.com, a Web site offering text, video and audio lessons to help student pilots excel. Get an in-depth view of the new platform AOPA has developed for presenting weather using the latest technology and sources to enhance the flight planning experience. Senior Developer and technical lead for the project Benjamin Roberts will give a first-hand tour and talk about what else is in the works. He will wrap up with a question and answer session, so bring your ideas and questions.

Student Pilots

Come and meet up with other students to discuss all things learning to fly. It will be an informal setting where you'll have the chance to meet Rod Machado and FAA CFI of the Year Arylnn McMahon. All student pilots and wannabe student pilots are invited to stop by for advice, some hangar flying, and a lot of fun.

AIFP 2.0

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming version of the AOPA Internet Flight Planner (AIFP), direct from AOPA's development team. Senior Developer and technical lead for the project Benjamin Roberts and interface design consultant Craig Jester will provide a quick overview of the development process, followed by a tour of prototypes and alpha versions that preview tomorrow's features. A question and answer session will conclude the session. Ideas, suggestions and questions welcome.

Learn about the Flying Physicians Association. Since 1955, the Flying Physicians Association has worked toward the promotion of safety, education, and human interest projects relating to medicine and aviation.
