Stockyard Station
For the drovers herding longhorn cattle up the Chisholm Trail to the railheads, Fort Worth was the last major stop for rest and supplies. Between 1866 and 1890 more than four million head of cattle were trailed through Fort Worth, formerly known as "Cowtown" and is better known today as Fort Worth's historic Stockyards.
5:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.
AOPA invites you to join them in the Stockyards for a Friday evening event full of good food, great entertainment and fun atmosphere. Chow down on some famous Riscky's BBQ (a local favorite since 1927), grab a drink, enjoy a comedy gun fight, and relax to the sounds of Live Country music. Don't forget your camera! You'll want to capture a photo of yourself and a few pilot friends in front of an authentic Texas Longhorn who will be on display just for our attendees.
8 p.m. - Conclusion of the Rodeo
After you've eaten and drank till the cows came home (or the longhorn goes to sleep), mosey over to Cowtown Coliseum, the Stockyards' Championship Rodeo. Here you will view the best in Rodeo and Western action in a reserved seating area just for Summit attendees. Be sure to check out the pictorial timeline on the entry wall and the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame that occupies the corridors with its entire memorabilia for a brief glimpse into rodeo life. The Rodeo and Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame is included in the purchase of the event ticket.
