The long cross country

After three days and 27 hours of flying, we’re here. The trip from AOPA headquarters in Frederick, MD, to San Jose, Calif., for Expo was generally uneventful, if not long.

We left Frederick early Saturday morning and made it as far as Altus, Ok. The next day we blasted off from Altus for the Phoenix area. Bumps and a couple of long legs made that as far as we would get on Sunday. Morning morning we left a little later and departed for San Jose. We arrived at 7:30 p.m. local to heavy rain and strong winds. It was a fun challenge to end a great trip. Make sure to check out all the photos from the trip in the gallery.

Tuesday and Wednesday we arranged and built the static display for the aircraft at San Jose International. The Archer sits prominently and proudly as the centerpiece of the display.

Come to Expo this week to check out your finished 2008 Get Your Glass Sweepstakes Piper Archer. It’s a beautiful airplane that after many hours of flying I can definitely say is also very capable, thanks to its advanced panel.
