May 3, 2004 — Promoters of a theme park at the Meadowlands in New Jersey want to build a giant 400-foot-high Ferris wheel barely two miles from the end of one of Teterboro Airport's (TEB) runways. The ride would extend into airspace protected for one of TEB's instrument approaches. "AOPA is finalizing its formal comments," said Heidi Williams, manager of air traffic for the association. "But in a nutshell, AOPA will oppose the ride's construction because of its potential impact on the approach to Teterboro."
The formal comment period closes on Wednesday, May 5. Comments may be submitted to: FAA Eastern Region; Attn: Robert P. Alexander, Specialist; 1 Aviation Plaza - AEA - 520; Jamaica, NY 11434.
