A proposed residential development is too close to the local airport and should not be approved, AOPA has told county officials in Reno, Nevada. The proposed development would be adjacent to, and possibly extend into the runway protection zone of, Spanish Springs Airport, which is just north of Reno. The brewing problem was brought to AOPA's attention by AOPA Airport Support Network volunteer Max Bartmess. AOPA called on the county to take all possible measures to protect the health, safety, and welfare of citizens both on the ground and in the air.
