Wyoming governor signs pro-GA tax bill

Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal recently signed into law House Bill 24, a bill that will save aircraft owners money and retain and grow aviation-related jobs in the Equality State. The new law exempts from excise taxation "the sale of aircraft repair, remodeling or maintenance services at a Federal Aviation Administration certified repair station including, but not limited to, repair or replacement materials or parts." AOPA Central Regional Representative Bill Hamilton and AOPA Manager of Regional Affairs Owen Sweeney worked with local aviation officials and state legislators to ensure that general aviation aircraft were included in the exemption. The law takes effect July 1.
