No off season for AOPA reps working at state level

The Texas state legislature is out of session until 2009, but AOPA isn't giving the state's policymakers a break. AOPA Southwest Regional Representative Shelly Lesikar deZevallos met this week with Rep. Nathan Macias to discuss important general aviation issues in Texas. "Even though the capitol is quiet during the interim, this is the best time to meet with legislators in their district," deZevallos said. Macias reiterated his support for general aviation during the meeting. Earlier this year, Macias worked to help AOPA eliminate House Bill 2955, which would have imposed user fees at Addison Airport in Addison. AOPA President Phil Boyer met with Macias in September during the National Business Aviation Association Convention in Atlanta.
