Description
Our club was founded on March 19, 1957 for the purpose of promoting personal flying and general aviation. The club is operated under a charter and set of operating rules approved by a board of trustees who are elected by the membership
Meetings, open to the public, are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 8:00 PM - usually at the Park Presbyterian Church in Zelienople. Topics range from club business to programs of general aviation interest & safety. If you're interested in learning more about our club, this is a great way to meet us and see for yourself.
In addition to monthly meetings, we hold a picnic each summer with aviation activities such as flour-bombing, spot landing contests, etc. There is also a holiday party each year as well as a "poker run" to several nearby airports where each team tries to score the best poker hand. It is also a safe bet that on weekends and the occasional weekday evening, you'll find a group of "hangar flyers" sharing the details of their day's mission.
To join the club, there is a one-time $500 initiation fee. After the first year, annual dues are $250. Additionally, the club has a group insurance policy, which is divided equally among the flying members. The insurance cost is usually $450/year for flying members; however, it varies based on the actual policy premium. For new members, the rate is prorated, so if you join in July, for example, you'd only pay half the rate for your first year.
