Tidewater Flying Club, Inc.

Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (KPHF)

Club Facilities

  • Online Flight Scheduler
  • AOPA Network Club

We are an incorporated social organization located at the Newport News/Williamsburg airport with 40+ members and three aircraft; by virtue of joint ownership, the cost of operating an aircraft is significantly reduced from sole ownership at the expense of having to share the aircraft.

We do not provide instruction; people who join can fly with either a fellow Club member that is an instructor (we have two active instructors) or an outside instructor of their choosing (with some additional paperwork).

We have Club meetings on the second Wednesday each month [except December] in the terminal building at PHF, in the board room near the USO club. Prospective need to come to two meetings to join: one to turn in your application, and a second one either the following or the month after that to be interviewed and voted on.

Aside from that, there are few requirements for membership. People can find a copy of our Bylaws and Rules and Regs on the club website ( Members must be checked out in each aircraft type (two 172s and a Diamond DA.40). Each is IFR equipped and includes a Garmin WAAS receiver for legal GPS approaches.
