Club Facilities

Why I'm interested in starting a club:
I have been the president of our local EAA chapter for about 8 years now. I have always been interested in starting a flying club. As the EAA chapter president, we focus our efforts on providing local youth with their first flight in an airplane. Many of these youth have gone on to get private and commercial certificates. It is very exciting to know that we helped provide the stepping stone for some youth to turn their first positive flight experience into a passion for flying and hopefully, a career in flying. Starting a flying club could be the next logical step for our group; to be able to provide youth with not only with their first flight experience, but to also provide them with a cost effective alternative to assist them with getting a pilot certificate and add on ratings.

Description of the hangar/clubhouse facilities:
The airport currently has a terminal building conference room that is used for ground school training and can be used by pilots and students at anytime. Additionally, an office and storage facility is available for rent should we start a club.

Progress made towards starting the club:
Our local group of interested pilots have already purchased a Cessna 172. We are actively soliciting pilots and students to join. The club would be based at KONX, Currituck Regional Airport. There is already a flight instructor who would assist with the training. Our local EAA group consists of approximately 15 members who would be willing to assist with the administration of the club.
