Why I'm interested in starting a club:
I am interested in starting a flying club to promote aviation at Florida Gulf Coast University located in Fort Myers, Florida. I earned my Private Pilot Certificate last year and I am currently working on my instrument rating. I have been interested in aviation since I was about five years old and have always aspired to become a pilot. I have already got a few people interested in the club here at the university and have registered the organization here as well. I would ultimately like to see Florida Gulf Coast University open an aviation department. This would make Florida Gulf Coast University the first public university in the state of Florida to offer an aviation program.

Description of the hangar/clubhouse facility:
We do not have direct access to a hangar at this time, however, we are looking to work with Paragon Flight Training at the Page Field airport in Fort Myers, FL. We would like to form a partnership with Paragon and use their aircraft for training and rental.

Progress made towards starting the club:
We are already a registered organization at Florida Gulf Coast University and we currently have 20 members with membership still expanding. I have been setting up ground lessons that include flight planning, METAR and TAF decoding, and other calculations that can be taught on the ground. We also plan on attending air shows within Florida to learn more about aviation.
