Bendix/King has taken customer suggestions into consideration as it rolls out version 1.3 of its myWingMan flight planning app. The company announced July 29 at EAA AirVenture that it has implemented several key new features and functions.
The enhancements include an airborne flight planning function that will take into account terrain, airspace, winds aloft, and other considerations, and adjust the route as you fly. The upgrade also includes user-selectable 2-D and 3-D Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) and obstacles.
Airspace alerting in a 2-D map view shows potential conflicts with airspace. Audio traffic alerts are implemented in 3-D, where sounds appear to come from the traffic location through Bluetooth headsets and audio panels or via the KMA 30.
A 30-day free trial of the app is available through iTunes and the Seattle Avionics website. An annual subscription is $99 (VFR) or $149 (IFR). Pricing includes airport data, fuel prices, and geo-referenced plates.
