AOPA is cautioning pilots who fly in the vicinity of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Class B airspace that modifications to the airspace that take effect Jan. 9 will not be depicted on the Omaha Sectional chart until Feb. 6, when its new edition is published.
The new editions of two other sectional charts, Green Bay (Wis.) and the Twin Cities of Minnesota are to be published Jan. 9, and will show the Class B airspace revisions at the time they take effect.
The FAA has issued a charting notice to advise pilots of the 29-day gap between the airspace revisions’ Jan. 9 effective date and the Feb. 6 publication date of the eighty-ninth edition of the Omaha Sectional chart.
Pilots are reminded to check the Aeronautical Chart Bulletin section of the airport/facilities directory for updated information on major changes in charted information since publication of the most recent chart.
AOPA has frequently advocated for the FAA to synchronize airspace actions with VFR navigation chart publication cycles, enhancing safety by assuring that pilots have the most current information available for flights in and near modified airspace.
