You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Now there’s another day to celebrate during the holiday season—a day to give back. The AOPA Foundation is taking part in the third annual #GivingTuesday Dec. 2.
Participating is easy. Just text “GA” to 27722 to donate $10 to the AOPA Foundation. Funds raised will be used to support AOPA initiatives like the Rusty Pilots program, the Flying Club Network, and AV8Rs youth membership.
Coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday was created as a way to celebrate and encourage charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations. “#GivingTuesday is a counter narrative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday because it reminds us that the spirit of the holiday giving season should be about community and not just consumerism,” said Kathy Calvin, CEO of the United Nations Foundation, in a news release about the event.
