Safe Flight offers icing conditions detector

Safe Flight Instrument Corp. is offering an Icing Conditions Detector for all aircraft types. The system is currently under evaluation in a variety of airframe types.

It provides an instantaneous warning when icing conditions are present and before ice accretion has an opportunity to reduce vehicle performance and controllability, the company said in a press release.

It is a single line replaceable unit. The lightweight, low-drag detector is intended for use in all flight conditions. The idea behind the system is to detect weather conditions that cause icing, allowing the pilot to escape before ice has formed.

Safe Flight makes stall warning systems, angle of attack systems for airplanes and helicopters, wind-shear warning devices, and automatic throttle systems.
