A new scholarship from National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Charities will send current or aspiring maintenance technicians to Falcon Jet aircraft initial maintenance courses.
The Hank Hilsmann Memorial Scholarship was announced Jan. 15 by NBAA Charities in coordination with Dassault Falcon Jet Corp., CAE, and Flight Safety International, and will award two courses conducted at CAE maintenance training locations in Morristown, New Jersey; Dallas; or Little Rock, Arkansas; and at Flight Safety International in Dallas or Wilmington, Delaware, as well as travel expenses. It honors the memory of Hilsmann, who NBAA said was known for his integrity and pride in his work as a mechanic and pilot, and in his most recent position as a field representative with Dassault Falcon Jet. Applications are due March 20, and the first recipient will be announced in April.
The scholarship is one of many offered by NBAA Charities in 2015. Among them, Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Scholarship awards will help flight attendants and flight technicians complete training to enhance their careers. The deadline for applications is March 16, and recipients will be notified by May 15.
The Chicago Area Business Aviation Association also has announced its 2015 scholarships to promote professional development and business aviation careers. Awards will be granted for maintenance training, advanced pilot training, and more. Deadlines vary.
In January, the National Aircraft Resale Association (NARA) Business Aviation Scholarship program announced it had awarded $23,820 in scholarships to five students. The scholarships are given to undergraduate and graduate students in corporate aviation management, aerodynamics, aircraft systems, aviation safety, finance, business marketing, economics, or studies that relate to aviation business and management. Michael Adams, Cory Clifft, and Louie Marquez, who are working on graduate degrees at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Chip Shriver, who is working on a graduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University; and Alexander Martin, a senior at Florida Institute of Technology, received the scholarships.
