Universal Avionics offers training, discounts

FANS, if you didn’t know, stands for Future Air Navigation System, and it provides a new way for communicating with air traffic control. If you are using Universal Avionics equipment, you can learn how to use the product as well as how to operate in the FANS environment with computer-based training.

The new software, allowing operators to walk through a series of scenarios simulating two-way messaging using FANS technology, is on demonstration at Universal Avionics booth N5733 during the National Business Aviation Association convention Nov. 17 through 19 in Las Vegas.

The UniLink Trainer simulates both the UniLink CMU and a four- or five-inch flight management system control display unit or multi-functional CDU.

The training system also can be used as part of an FAA-approved course.

In other Universal news, the company is offering incentives for Falcon 900B operators to upgrade with the company’s retrofit flight deck package. Available through a partnership with Duncan Aviation, the upgrade program includes the Future Air Navigation System and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast Out capability.

The offer includes an extended one-year warranty for all Universal Avionics products, saving an extended warranty cost of approximately $15,000, and early bird pricing said to save approximately 10 percent. The installation must be contracted for at Duncan Aviation prior to June 30, 2016.
