Charter College, flight schools partner for aviation degree

Charter College, with locations in Alaska, California, and Washington, is partnering with several Part 141 flight schools to offer an aviation degree.

The flight schools will provide ground school and general flight education courses to prepare students to earn an associate of applied science degree in aviation, and FAA certificates for fixed-wing and rotorcraft. Charter College will provide general education and aeronautical courses. Distance learning is available.

The fixed-wing program includes 250 flight hours, and the rotary aircraft program includes 210 flight hours, Charter said.

In California, Charter will work with American Aviation Academy at Gillespie Field Airport in El Cajon and Brown Field Airport in San Diego, Helipro Inc. at San Luis Obispo, and Pacific States Aviation at Buchanan Field Airport in Concord. In Florida, the flight schools are Jacobs Flight Services at Clewiston Airglades Airport in Clewiston, and University Air Center in Gainesville.

In Nevada, Charter will work with Carson Aviation Academy at Carson Airport in Carson City, Reno Tahoe Helicopters at Minden-Tahoe Airport in Minden, and Elite Flight Training at North Las Vegas Airport in Las Vegas. In Texas, the flight schools are Marcair Aviation at Northwest Regional Airport in Roanoke and Veracity Aviation at Huber Airpark in Seguin. In Virginia, JLS Aviation at Shannon Airport in Fredericksburg will provide flight instruction.

In Washington, Charter will work with Classic Helicopter Corp. at Boeing Field/King County International Airport in Seattle, Northway Aviation at Snohomish County/Paine Field Airport in Everett, and Snohomish Flying Service at Harvey Field Airport in Snohomish.
