Landmark FBOs to be added to Signature network

In a $2.065 billion deal that won’t close until early 2016, BBA Aviation, the parent company of Signature Flight Support, plans to acquire Landmark Aviation, currently owned by The Carlyle Group. Landmark has a global network of fixed-based operators (FBOs), aviation maintenance shops sometimes located with the FBO, aircraft management operations, and charter businesses.

“Landmark has 68 FBOs that are complementary to Signature’s existing network of 133 wholly owned and affiliate global locations,” BAA Aviation said in a news release Sept. 23. “Landmark’s aircraft maintenance locations will also supplement Signature’s existing [maintenance, repair and overhaul operations] delivered through its Signature TECHNICAir and CSE Citation Centre brands. Landmark’s aircraft management and charter fleet numbers over 110 aircraft.”

Simon Pryce, chief executive of BBA Aviation, said the deal allows both companies to realize cost synergies and tax benefits.

Customer loyalty programs will be combined if the deal is approved.
