Business AnalystBusiness Analyst

Reporting to the Director of Financial Analysis, the candidate’s primary role will be to apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to interpret data and formulate and present recommendations through which management can better direct business strategy. This will include gathering requirements from business partners, assisting with back-end development of Tableau reports and dashboards, creating new dashboards and analysis in Tableau to measure effectiveness of departmental initiatives, employing visual best practices to summarize and communicate key findings to stakeholders, and assisting operations teams with analytics and data related requests on an ad-hoc basis.

The candidate will need to have strong analytical skills, be a capable user of Tableau, and have a working knowledge of SQL. Additionally, the individual should be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and be willing to learn basic accounting skills as needed. Ability to pay close attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines is a necessity. Finally, the applicant must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Duties:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to transform the association’s data into business information that helps departments fulfill strategic objectives
  • Perform analysis and create new dashboards in Tableau to help leaders make data-driven decisions
  • Assist with refining existing reports and improving the quality control and distribution processes
  • Contribute to the development and revision of operational metrics and departmental KPI’s
  • Respond to periodic analytics requests from other departments throughout the organization
  • Help facilitate a culture of data collaboration
  • Author and present reports containing actionable recommendations

Skills:

  • BS or BA with at least three years of related professional experience
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with initiative and follow-through
  • Can prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity simultaneously
  • Able to understand business issues and interpret data in a way that provides actionable insights
  • Basic understanding of accounting and finance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Tableau
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Basic SQL or other database skills or willingness to learn the skills as needed
  • Experience with analytics software such as SPSS, SAS, or R a plus
  • Other duties as required
